Development Camp For MJHL & ESHL Teams

The Suffolk Juniors Hockey Club (SJHC) would like to invite you to participate this Spring in our weekly skills skates. The skates will be held at The Rinx on Wednesday afternoons from 3pm till 4:50pm. This is a great way to stay on the ice during the off season and get prepared for next season. We will do 6 weeks and if more sessions are desired by the group we will add to those skates as well. This clinic is only for our MJHL & ESHL players only.

Player/Parent Meeting

There will be a meeting for players/parents for both Suffolk Juniors teams as well as the Midget 16U AAA team. The Midgets and the ESHL Junior team meetings will be on 4/18/12 at the Rinx. The MET Junior team meeting will be on 4/19/12 at the Rinx.

Families need to bring the following items with them: First tuition payment, printout of USA Hockey registration for 2012-2013 and players signed contract.

16U AAA team will be meeting at 6:30 PM on 4/18
ESHL Junior team will be meeting at 8:00 PM on 4/18
MET Junior team will be meeting at 7:00 PM on 4/19

PAL Midget 16U AAA to Play in New Elite League

PAL Hockey has been selected to play in the “new” U16 League (USEHL), this will assist us in developing young talent for the Juniors. The Head Coach of this team will be Chris Caroppoli, Assistant Coaches will be Buzz Deschamps & Robert Keating. We will be hosting a player/parent meeting on Monday night, 4/2/12 at 7pm at the Rinx. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity for Midget 16U players please feel free to attend this informational meeting.

PAL Hockey Joins EHF

The Eastern Hockey Federation (EHF) officially congratulates and welcomes PRIDE in Athletics for Life (PAL Hockey) into the EHF for the 2012-13 season. The EHF was established in early 2004 and is New England’s premier Youth Hockey league. The league was constructed for the purpose of fostering and governing an elite youth hockey league comprised of the top youth hockey organizations in New England.

Juniors Announce Coaching Staff

The Suffolk Juniors Hockey Club today proudly announces Ed Galiani as the new Head Coach of our MET Team. Ed joins us from the NY Bobcats (AJHL) where he has been the Head Coach for the past seven years. Coach Galiani is looked upon yearly as one of the top Coaches in the AJHL.

Suffolk Juniors will be fielding two Junior teams for the 2012-13 season, more information as to the Coaching Staff will be announced the week of March 12th

The Suffolk Juniors practice times during the season:
The official start time is 3:35pm and goes till 4:50pm; the Hockey Club has available ice from 3:00pm till 3:35pm for players who can make the 3:00pm start time, this is extra ice to work on shooting and skating skills working with our Skill Development Coach Aleksey Nikiforov.

Suffolk Juniors Take RMH-LI Cup

On 1/10/12 the Suffolk Juniors faced off against the LI Royals at the Nassau Coliseum for the Ronald McDonald House Long Island Cup. The Juniors downed the Royals 6-3 to take the RMH-LI Cup. Congratulations to the players and coaches.

Juniors Advance to RMH-LI Cup Final

The much anticipated rematch game in the Ronald McDonald House-Long Island Cup Series took place at The Rinx Tuesday night November 15, 2011 with the Suffolk Juniors squaring off against last year’s Cup winner, the NY Applecore. Applecore won last year’s contest against Suffolk but the Juniors were ready for this year’s task.
Suffolk got on the board first at the 18:20 mark of the first half with James Anderson finding the back of the net after putting on a puck control clinic down low. Applecore answered back three minutes later with Brandon Fusaro scoring off the rebound. Assists went to Joe Bochichio and Keegan Travers. Play continued end to end with both teams generating quality scoring chances.
It was not until the 3:48 mark that Chris Habberstad took a feed from Nick Falino and beat Applecore’s Justin Kapelmaster on the short side to take the lead for good. Less than two minutes later Nick Russo scored for Suffolk off a point shot from Donato Cipriano making it 3-1. Suffolk’s Todd Scarola turned aside 14 of 15 shots making countless spectacular saves.
After the break, Applecore realized that this was not just an exhibition game. They tested Suffolk’s defense and new goaltender Ned Torrico early and often in the first five minutes of the second half. Suffolk would bend but not break. Again the play was end to end and Suffolk sealed Applecore’s fate with a power play goal with a minute left off the stick of veteran Ryan McCarthy with the helper coming from line mate Matthew Gault.
Suffolk’s goaltending tandem of Todd Scarola (14/15) and Ned Torrico (23/23) were outstanding in net and were selected game co MVP’s.
Next up will be the LI Royals for the championship of the Ronald McDonald House- LI Cup. The game will be held January 10, 2012 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum prior to the NY Islanders vs. Detroit Red Wings game. Tickets for the game are $25 and includes admission to the Juniors game and the Islanders game.
All proceeds from the RMH-LI Cup series will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. Last year the event raised $16,000. So far this year over $25,000 has been raised. Suffolk alone raised $4500. In addition, players and staff from each team participated in the RMH-LI Dinner Program where they purchased and prepared food for the families staying at the House.
